Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays and may all your wishes come true in  2020… 🙂

This isn’t the first time I’m reviewing Giovanni hair products on the website. Giovanni is one of my favourite hair product companies.

There’s always 2 to 3 of their products in rotation in my stash at any given time.

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner was created for infusing dry and damaged hair with much-needed moisture.

It makes it easy to detangle hair and guards against split ends. It also helps calm flyaways and eliminates frizz.

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner is safe to use on all hair types, colour treated hair and is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

As the name indicates, this conditioner feels like silk and makes hair silky smooth after a good deep conditioning session.

Definitely sounds super yummy but does it deliver on all these things?

How I Use Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner

I used it on full regimen day after I’d been wearing twists under a wig for a few weeks.

I pre-pooed my hair then shampooed in sections with diluted Castile soap.

Afterwards, I poured a few tablespoons of Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner into a small mixing bowl.

I then added a little bit of castor oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin E oil and 5 drops of lavender essential oil.

I whisked thoroughly with a fork then placed the bowl in a hot water bath to warm up the conditioner mix.

This took a few minutes. I then applied the warm conditioner to my hair in sections.

My hair was already detangled before I started the process but when that conditioner touched my hair, it turned to slip heaven.

My hair became very soft and pliable. I had no problem using my fingers to work the conditioner mix through my hair and didn’t feel the need to use my giant bone comb as a follow-up.

I put my hair up in twists with the ends exposed and sat under my 2 in 1 hair steamer for 30 minutes.

After heat activation, the conditioner made my hair softer and even more pliable.

I played around with this awesomeness for a few minutes before rinsing out.

What I Loved About Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner

  • Did I mention it provides maximum slip? It’s great for detangling. If you’re not impressed after application, activate with heat before drawing any conclusions.
  • Even though I used it for deep conditioning and as a rinse out only, I am sure it will work as a co-wash too without causing buildup.
  • The scent is pleasing without overpowering. The addition of lavender essential oil also helped elevate the steaming experience.
  • Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner is very moisturising and one of the recommendations in the upcoming 365 of Moisture for Dry and Parched Hair.
  • Budget-friendly and comes in various sizes. If your hair soaks up conditioner, you can add some oils to make it last longer.
  • Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner does exactly what it says it will on the bottle.

What I Didn’t Love About Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner

The conditioner is thick and initially, it’s easy to get out of the bottle. However, when you start getting to the bottom, it’s a tug of war to get it out of the bottle.

I usually have to turn it upside down so it streams down to the top of the bottle before next use.

The bigger bottles come with a pump though so it might not be that much of a hassle.

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner: Rock It or Bin It?

Rock it of course despite the cons I’ve listed. The cons don’t take away from the effectiveness of the product and are just inconveniences.

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner gets a 5/5 from me as long as the ingredient list stays the same.

  1. I ran across “Urban Hydration HONEY Health & Repair DEEP CONDITIONER” today while looking for the “Tea Tree” or “Giovanni” conditioner. I couldn’t find neither one at my drug store, so I purchased the mentioned above brand. What do you think about the brand I purchased today? I’ll attach the pictures displaying the ingredients to your email since I can’t upload pictures here.
