What is a Vibrating Flat Iron?

The vibrating flat iron could be one of the best hair straightening tools for curly-haired ladies. I share my experience with the Vibrastrait Vibrating Flat Iron plus tips on why you should try a vibrating flat iron the next time you want to straighten your hair.

Best Vibrating Flat Iron for Curly Hair

I’ve had my vibrating flat iron since last year but just got round to trying it out a few weeks ago.

Vibrating flat irons have been around for the past few years but they’re starting to become more popular as women look for healthier ways to straighten hair.

There are many types of flat iron brands on the market but you need that one tool that fulfills your straightening needs so you don’t clutter your hair care tools arsenal.

For a blowout with a straight effect, there’s the One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler. And for stick-thin hair, you want to have a suitable flat iron.

Does the vibrating flat iron fit the bill for this?

What Does a Vibrating Flat Iron Do?

The technology behind the vibrating flat iron says it shuffles and detangles hair for a smoother, easier glide through hair. This minimizes damage and keeps hair healthy.

A vibrating flat iron also decreases styling time and the unique combination of heat and vibration means a smoother, straighter, and long-lasting style.

A vibrating flat iron is aka vibrating straightener and vibrating hair straightener so don’t get confused by the different names.

What is the Purpose of a Vibrating Flat Iron?

The purpose of a vibrating flat iron is simple – create smooth hairstyles in a short time without causing any damage.

It’s also supposed to distribute heat evenly as the vibration glides your hair through the plates. A vibrating iron is designed to provide salon-level results!

Note – even though vibrating flat irons are designed to protect hair and maintain curl integrity, you still need to use a heat protectant.

Vibrating Flat Iron Pros

  • The vibrating technology enables the plates to glide through all hair types seamlessly and without tugging.
  • Because you don’t have to run a vibrating flat iron through your hair multiple times, it reduces the incidence of heat damage.
  • Vibrating flat irons keep strands hydrated and lock in moisture.
  • Vibrating flat irons eliminate frizz and ensure salon-quality results.
  • Vibrating flat irons are suitable for all hair types.
  • The high-quality tourmaline ceramic plates of a vibrating flat iron ensure even heat distribution and faster results.
  • A vibrating flat iron is a versatile tool for creating hairstyles as well as straight hair.

Vibrating Flat Iron Cons

Best Heat Settings

Even though the vibrating iron heats up very fast and has high heat settings, the heat setting you choose is dependent on your hair type.

You need to choose the correct heat setting for your hair type to prevent heat damage.

  • For fine and fragile hair – 190°
  • For thin and easily straightened hair – 370°
  • For healthy, curly, coarse, and very thick hair – 410° – 450°. Do not run through your hair multiple times at these temperatures. 1 – 2 passes should be enough.

Which is the Best Vibrating Flat Iron?

This all depends on your budget and how many bells and whistles you’re looking for.

All the recommendations above have similar features with a few differences here and there. If I were to rate them according to feedback from reviews, it’d be:-

Are Vibrating Straighteners Better for Your Hair?

Vibrating straighteners are designed to cause less friction on the hair and get smooth results faster.

The integrity of the hair cuticle is maintained and hair ends up less frizzy due to the vibrating plates.

Vibrating straighteners are indeed much better for your hair than traditional flat irons.

Difference Between a Vibrating Straightener and a Hair Straightening Brush

In Which Hair Straightener Brush is Best, I mentioned that a hair straightening brush is a more effective version of a flat iron. However, this is in regard to a traditional flat iron.

A vibrating straightener is an even more effective way to straighten hair because the vibrating technology shuffles hair faster through the plates so results are achieved in just 1 – 2 passes.

You can have a vibrating straightener and a hair straightening brush in your hair care arsenal for variety (I have both).

However, if you’re not flush with cash and just want to pick one, then I would say go with a vibrating straightener.

Vibrating Flat Iron for High Porosity Hair

If you have damaged hair, you really should be avoiding heat as much as possible but if you must use heat, then a vibrating flat iron is best for high porosity hair.

It’s designed to work with dry hair and helps hair maintain moisture and curl integrity.

For best results, do a protein deep conditioning treatment prior to using a vibrating flat iron on high porosity hair.

On the next regimen day, deep condition with a good moisture/protein balance.

Vibrating Flat Iron for Low Porosity Hair

The same rules apply. If you’re going to use a vibrating flat iron on low porosity hair, do a protein deep conditioning treatment prior to use.

Do not run the vibrating flat iron through your hair too many times and use a low – medium heat setting.

If you straighten your hair frequently, then investing in a vibrating flat iron might not be a bad idea at all.
