In case you missed it, Mielle was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2023, and in the announcement on Instagram, the founder said there was no intention to change formulas or marketing strategy.
I wrote about the acquisition in Mielle No Longer Black-Owned – Acquired by P&G.
After the acquisition, I turned my focus to my other favorites, and my interest in the brand fell by the wayside.
However, in the past month, I stumbled across a Mielle sale on Sally Beauty and decided to give one of my old favorites another go—the White Peony Leave-in Conditioner.
Have Mielle Formulas Changed?
I also wanted to check if the quality was still the same since P&G took over the brand.
Over the past weekend, I tried it on my hair before twisting, and the results are still the same. The product smell and consistency appear to be the same.
However, on r/Naturalhair on Reddit, they noticed a change in the Curl Smoothie ingredients.
Is this a gradual change, and will every product eventually be affected? This remains to be seen.
However, as of 2024, the White Peony Leave-in Conditioner ingredients and effects on natural hair remain the same.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be any changes in the future, so always check the ingredient list whenever you’re re-upping your stash.
More Mielle Organics Controversy
In May, Mielle Organics & P & G received a 60-day notice of intent to sue under California’s Proposition 65 for alleged violations of a toxic chemical in the Strengthening Shampoo.

Final Thoughts
Remember that sometimes, it isn’t always a product causing hair loss but something else you’re doing internally or externally.
Before determining the culprit, you should conduct some research and carry out tests to check your vitamin and iron levels.
Book 2 in the Healthy Hair Care Series, The Ulitmate Hair Growth Guide, should be an invaluable resource in this venture. Learn more HERE.

Due to a serious health condition, I did thorough research on all the beauty products in my cabinets. The Mielle line I had invested quite a sum on was one of the worst rated brands I had. I was shocked and saddened to have to toss every single item I had. Rosemary Mint Strengthening Shampoo & Conditioner, Styling Crème, Leave in Conditioner, Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil, Edge Gel (which was awesome for curl shine!!!) This brand claimed organic and did a fantastic job on my hair. Simply devastated.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, you find something better suited for you. DIY is also a great option
