Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice is one of the best products for natural hair care; encouraging softness, easy detangling, eliminating dryness, and guarding against split ends.

Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice has always been my favorite aloe vera juice brand but I haven’t used it in a while because my regimen changed a bit over the years.

However, I’ve shelved protective styles for the past few weeks and just left my hair alone. It’s not like I’m going out anywhere.

In this article, I share some information about aloe vera juice, the benefits of Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice, and why it’s one of the best aloe vera juice brands for hair.

I also share the two ways I use it on my hair and there’s a recipe card at the end for you to print and have on hand when you’re ready to try the recipe.

How to Use Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice

This is one of the best ways to use Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice on natural hair and get all the benefits.

I’ve tried it in different ways but this pre-poo recipe is the GOAT of all pre-poos.

You will need 3/4 cup of Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 5 drops of lavender essential oil.

How to Use Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Juice for Hair

Step 1 – Prepare the Aloe Vera Juice Pre-poo

  • Measure the aloe vera juice into a spray bottle.
  • Add the coconut oil and lavender essential oil.
  • Close and shake the spray bottle then place it in a jug of warm water.

Step 2 – Apply to Dry Hair

  • Section your hair into small parts and separate with butterfly clamps.
  • Spray the aloe vera juice mix generously into the section, work through with your fingers and detangle thoroughly then twist that section.
  • Once your whole head is done, cover it with a disposable cap and leave it on for an hour. I tie down with a scarf and work out to encourage a bit of body heat.
  • After an hour, shampoo and deep condition your hair.

I find the warm mix makes detangling my hair and working out shed hair and knots even faster.

This recipe is for APL hair so feel free to use less or more juice and coconut oil for shorter or longer hair.

If you don’t like coconut oil, you can replace it with 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerine or olive oil instead.
