About Qhemet Biologics

Qhemet Biologics was founded in 2004 by Felis Butler with a mission to cater to kinkier hair types.

Qhemet Biologics products are vegetarian, vegan, and eco-friendly. They are also free of the usual dry hair suspects such as mineral oil, silicones, SLS, parabens, and phthalates.

According to their website, “Qhemet Biologics is an innovative line of natural products inspired by African, Mediterranean and Ayurvedic hair care traditions.”

Though Qhemet Biologics products are catered specifically towards type 4 hair, it works for all hair textures depending on how you use it.

I bagged a few of the products, which I’d been eyeing for a while during the Black Friday Sales, and tried it out this weekend after keeping my hair in a protective style the last two weeks.

Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream Review

Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream is a blend of olive and castor oil, organic Ayurvedic herbs, and natural humectants (full ingredient listing below).

The moisturizer was created to cater to type 4B – 4C hair and can be used as a conditioner, an overnight treatment, and a styler.

I barely style my hair beyond the results provided by the max hydration method because I’m style challenged and it takes me forever.

However, I’ve been gunning to wear a different look for a while so when I purchased Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream, I noticed it would work great as a styler.

I set aside a day to try it out and chose to style my hair in chunky twists. However, to get to that step, I combined the hair cream with a few things.

I started with pre-pooing with a mix of grapeseed oil and coconut oil for twenty minutes after detangling lightly.

I then shampooed with Giovanni Smooth As Silk Moisture Shampoo in combination with my trusty scalp massage brush.

After rinsing out my hair, I applied Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner with Peppermint and Eucalyptus.

I detangled my hair then put it in loose twists and sat under my hair steamer for 30 minutes. I used Secura 2 in 1 Tabletop Steamer for this.

After rinsing out the conditioner, I wrapped my hair in a microfiber towel and waited until my hair was slightly damp then removed the towel.

I used a combination of Giovanni Direct Leave-in Treatment Conditioner, my DIY hair pomade, and Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream.

Instead of DIY hair pomade, you can also use Aethiopika Hydrate & Twist Butter for this step especially if you have very dry hair.

I sectioned my hair then started with smaller sections. I applied the direct leave-in conditioner followed by a bit of the heavy cream then finished off with my pomade.

I then twisted up that section. Even though I was aiming for chunky twists, I ended up with slightly bigger than mini twists.

I didn’t want to sit under a hairdryer so I pinned the twists around my head, wrapped up with my silk scarf, and let it air dry overnight.

First impression on taking off my scarf the next morning, my twists were super soft.

I applied a bit of marula oil to my palms and started unraveling the twists.

I was on my way to the pool so I threw my hair in a loose pouf before heading out the door. The picture below:-

What I Loved About Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream

  • My first impression was instant love because, despite my heavy-handedness with the product, my hair was not weighed down.
  • Since this would work on completely dry hair as well, it’s perfect for hairstyling in winter. Nobody wants to walk around with wet hair when it’s sub-zero outside.
  • Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream left my hair soft and moisturized with lots of shine.
  • It’s always a bonus when you love the smell of a hair product too.

Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream Ingredients

Rock It or Bin It?

Rock it forever. It’s moisturizing, promotes definition, and just made my hair so happy.

I highly recommend using it on hair that’s almost dry. I don’t think you’ll get good results if your hair is dripping wet.

  1. Thanks for this review. I’ve been eyeing this product for some time and was sitting on the fence about it because of the cost. Looks like it’s worth it though.

    • Totally worth it. I can’t say enough good things about it. I ordered it on sale so I got it for a good price but you need just a little bit of it. I also combined with my hair butter and the results were astounding.
